Passing Through

I took this picture of myself at Niagara the other night, passing through on my way from Detroit to Syracuse. It was a 45 second time exposure and I moved into the picture to represent the transience of my existence in this place and in the world. Posted by Picasa

At the Quarry

This is my new "favorite" place to walk and it was beautiful there today. I like it because I love to explore and discover and there is so much unexplored territory. Posted by Picasa

With someone: Three Generations

Here I am with my mother and my daughters, at the nursing home where my mother lives. Taking her out for a walk is a regular metronomic part of my weeks, when I'm in NY. I am so pleased with we have a loving and supportive family. Posted by Picasa

With Mom at Loretto

I'm 60 (I can hardly believe it!) and my Mom is 83. (She can't believe it either.) In some ways, I still feel like a kid. Other ways not--too tired, for example. And I'm not such a good kid of today, more technology than I can keep up with. And the days go by so FAST!! It's scary. Twice a week, I visit my Mom, sometimes more. If I'm away, she sometimes forget who I am. That's so sad and scary. I take her for a walk at the nursing home. This is behind Loretto, where she now lives.

This is for the "with someone" challenge for Self Portrait Challenge.Posted by Picasa

with my baby brother

Here I am with Tom, my baby brother. Time flies when you're having fun, and the older you get, the faster it passes. I blurred myself out a little because I like to pretend I'm not really over 60!!!!

The Garbage Queen, self portrait by Mary Stebbins. My Days are marked by the filling and carrying out of garbage. Every day, day after day. No end in sight. No air conditioning, either. Posted by Picasa

Popart Me 1

Popart Me 1, by Mary Stebbins. Click image to view larger. I am getting married in three days so I didn't have time to really play on Photoshop and I did this in Irfanview. By the way, I do not have blue eyes, my eyes are hazel (green and brown). If I had more time to play I'd have done this a little differently.

The eyes represent seeing, awareness, the self as a window to the world. They eyes as a window to the self, to an dfrom the "other" or that which appears to separate. Posted by Picasa

Introductions week 3

I love nature and I love walking in the woods or other natural places. Nature is one of the great loves of my life. Even in the rain--it's raining here. I'm an environmentalist.

This unlike the last two, is a straight photo. The only thing crooked about it is a broken cement "body" (statuary) at the base of the tree in the middle of the woods.

This is this week's picture. (For Tuesday May 16). I posted two pictures this week, because I couldn't get my picture to post last week--I tried repeatedly. Hopefully this will not happen again.

PS, I am getting married June 10. Posted by Picasa

for Self-Portrait Challenge introductions.

I took this picture of myself in the bathroom mirror this morning. There are multiple mirror panels and a mirror behind all reflecting my face. I am a Gemini, and am supposed to have multiple personalities. I think we all do. I obviously like to take pictures. Posted by Picasa
